Refractory Grade Silicon Carbide

Chemical inertness at high temperatures, high resistance to abrasion and to thermal shock make silicon carbide an attractive material for several refractory applications. Typical examples are kiln furniture, aluminium reduction cells, incinerators, bricks and monolithics for blast furnaces, runners, tap hole clays, zinc furnaces, crucibles for melting furnaces as well as solutions for waste-to-energy applications.

  • Our silicon carbide crude is produced by mixing high purity quartz sand and petroleum coke in an electric resistance furnace at temperatures around 2500°C. Once the crude has been produced, it undergoes processing crushing, milling and precision water classification process and air flow classification into finished grains and powders.  

     

    Silicon carbide for refractory applications is available in various SiC quality grades and particle shape and size fractions. These characteristics are adapted to the specific refractory application and customer need.
